This is a LED retrofit light for 12" Florescent Tube Lights. Due to the size of these smaller tube lights, an external driver is provided. This driver converts 10-30v DC RV power to a clean 12v DC power for long tube life. Other brands of retrofit tube lights have a wire and the driver hanging out the side of the tube, we choose to provide the driver separately and we utilize the natural pins on the end of the tube for power for a much cleaner looking installation. Since the driver occupies the space of your previous ballast, you will never see the wires or driver while looking up at your fixture.
You will need basic 12vDC wiring skills to install these tubes, or have them professionally installed. Wiring is basic, each driver gets a positive and negative wire connected, and each driver has a positive and negative wire that need to be connected to the end of each tube. I love the ease of installation and the increased brightness. Very happy with the switch from fluorescent lighting to LED lighting.
Everything else workedfine.
M4 Note: Section 1, 9, and 10 of the T5 instructions sheet that comes with the tubes touch on this (each tube must have its own driver independently wired) There are several variations of original fixture wiring, but after the ballast is removed they are basically the same once you ensure you have one wire per socket on T5 fixtures.
The Only place to get your RV Retrofit LED lights.
The materials are great. But it would have helped me if you would have stated in the hard copy mailed instructions the necessity to cut the jumper wire on the 2 tube fluorescent fixtures when changing them over for LED tubes. I did eventually find that information in one of your online resources, but please start including that in the Installation Instructions for the T5 12" Tube Lights.
M4 Note: Thank you for the input. We kind of cover this for applicable fixtures on #9 on the instructions that says "you should end up with one wire coming from each socket". Some fixtures have jumper wires, some do not, so adding it would confuse those with the later. Instructions can be previewed at http://m4sales.com/InstallT5.pdf
I have an older motor coach that has many florescent lights. One went bad and when I was testing the fixture, I found the ballast was bad...no direct replacement was available, so I started looking into LEDs. Mostly what I found was the strips that were sticky tape installed, and this option was not to my liking. Then I found this company !! The tube replaces a standard fluorescent bulb that bypassed the ballast issue..
I did the rewire in just a couple minutes and it is awesome! At first, it was not lighting up, but the instructions are very good and I just swapped ends because it is polarity sensitive and it is perfect.
upgraded all fixtures om trailer to cool white LED
I had ordered these earlier but forgot the kitchen overhead
