This is a LED retrofit light for 12" Florescent Tube Lights. Due to the size of these smaller tube lights, an external driver is provided. This driver converts 10-30v DC RV power to a clean 12v DC power for long tube life. Other brands of retrofit tube lights have a wire and the driver hanging out the side of the tube, we choose to provide the driver separately and we utilize the natural pins on the end of the tube for power for a much cleaner looking installation. Since the driver occupies the space of your previous ballast, you will never see the wires or driver while looking up at your fixture.
You will need basic 12vDC wiring skills to install these tubes, or have them professionally installed. Wiring is basic, each driver gets a positive and negative wire connected, and each driver has a positive and negative wire that need to be connected to the end of each tube. As expected, no problems with install
Super easy to convert and very economical. I got the Natural light for the ceiling of the center aisle and it's much brighter than the old fluorescent tubes.
This is the second time I have ordered from M4. both times it was to retro fit the power hungry ballast and florescent tubes on sailboats. The LED bulbs came with clear easy to follow instructions. I chose to use wire crimp splices instead of the wire nuts that came with the conversion kit due to vibration and location. Great company and customer service.
I was a little skeptical at first - not thinking this could be as easy as described. I watched a couple of videos made by the RVGeeks and saw how easy it was. Literally - I converted 2 overhead 12" fluorescent lights using the m4 12" kit, in 30 Minutes max and I chose to remove the old drivers. This was the easiest upgrade I thing I've done. I need to buy 1 more kit for the third 12" overhead light. If you've been on the fence about upgrade and are just slightly handy - you can install this kit in just a matter of minutes.
Great product! We changed out all of our old flourescent bulbs and love the natural white light (not yellow). We called the tech department on the first installation then the rest were a breeze. The tech department was helpful and knowledgable. Thanks for a great product!
This product was well designed with clear easy to follow instructions they even included wire nuts for the electrical connections..I elected to use AMP crimp splices instead.
These are good bulbs if you install correctly. Have used 18" version that is not polarity senitive doesn't have external transformers. The 18s were much easier. These 12" take some time getting use to the installing process. The 12"s are fragile also. I ruined 2 bulbs learning how to install. Once I learned how the other 10 bulbs went okay. Good product. M4 Note: These do wire differently than the 18" tube per the description and included instructions, there are a couple more wires per tube. By fragility I have to assume you installed some without the drivers and burned out the tubes, not a physical problem as physically they are as stout as the original tubes. If there are every any installation questions please ask and note that different products do have different instruction sheets provided.
Not quite as easy as the 18" models, use rvgeeks YouTube videos if you have problems. Once sorted out they are better than the originals.
